Hamantaschen Dough - I (Parve)

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2/3 cup oil
  • 3 eggs
  • 2 tablespoons melted honey
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • grated rind of 1 orange
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 3-4 cup flour
  • Mix the above together well. If using a food processor put the sugar in first and then drop the pieces of orange peel in and it grates it right up.

Add baking powder, salt and flour

Mix until soft dough forms. Try to use about 3 and 1/2 cups flour and reserve the rest for rolling the dough. Chill the dough before rolling it out. Make the Hamentaschen fairly small and roll the dough quite thin. The Hamentaschen will be fairly crispy when baked, but ripen in a couple of days to a nice soft dough.
